Fatoumatta Bah
BSc IN PLANNING AND DESIGN
Fatoumatta was selected as the recipient of this year’s corporate-sponsored Tabaxh scholarship due to her outstanding academic performance in high school and her dedication to architecture.
Coming from a disadvantaged background, Fatoumatta faced significant challenges in her pursuit of higher education. She often had to convince her family to support her dream of becoming an architect, but she was met with resistance and beliefs that fields like architecture were not suitable for women. Despite these obstacles, Fatoumatta remained determined to follow her passion and is currently pursuing a BSc in Planning and Design.
In her spare time, Fatoumatta enjoys reading novels, watching movies, and mentoring other students. In 2022, Fatoumatta was chosen as a delegate at the The Gambia International Model United Nations (TGIMUN) Conference. Her exceptional work on the topic “Raising intergenerational leaders for global impact” earned her the prestigious TGIMUN 2022 Award for the best UNFPA position paper.
